5 Days Safari
Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and you’ll head to Tarangire National Park (about a 2-3 hour drive). Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees that create a unique landscape. Morning is the best time to spot active wildlife. You can expect to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and various bird species. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot with views of the park’s wildlife. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, focusing on the animals gathering around the Tarangire River for water. In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to your accommodation in the Mto wa Mbu or Karatu area, where you’ll have dinner and rest in a lodge or camp.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Conservation area
After breakfast, depart from the campsite or hotel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx. 45 minutes), the drive continues into the heart of Serengeti NP for over two hours. Anyway, it is not a boring journey. The landscape is constantly changing, on your right you will be able to see the Ol Duvai area where the famous anthropologists of the Leakey family found hominids.
Picnic lunch on Naabi hill, from where you can see the Serengeti plains. The Serengeti plains are already the largest wilderness, here you will not even meet the local Maasai who otherwise may have their small villages in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Afternoon safari in the central Serengeti in a landscape that is famous for its open savannah where you can see large herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles as well as predators such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas.
Arrive at your lodge or camp in the central Serengeti (Seronera area). Dinner and relax after a day of adventure.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day safari in central Serengeti, particularly in the Seronera Valley, which is famous for its high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Explore the area and watch the wildlife in its natural habitat. You will also look for the Great Migration, if you are visiting during the migration season. Stop for a picnic lunch in the park, enjoying the breathtaking views. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, with opportunities to see large herds of wildebeest and zebras, as well as predators stalking their prey. You might also encounter buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles in the rivers. Return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Serengeti Safari, Ngorongoro crater
Full safari in the Serengeti until the afternoon. Then transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the road again passes through the area where you can spot wildlife or stop for a tour of a Maasai village where you can learn about the culture and traditions of this pastoral tribe.
In the evening, check in at the crater in a lodge or camp.
Day 5: Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast, descend to Ngorongoro Crater, which will take almost an hour. The crater is considered one of the best places for wildlife viewing in Tanzania. Ngorongoro is home to a large concentration of animals including the "Big Five" (lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and leopards). In addition, you can see zebra, wildebeest, hippos and flamingos on the soda lake.
